WRITING/DIRECTING DUO

Hansel Rodrigues and Lizzie Atherton form an exciting, award-winning writing/directing partnership. Together, they have won The Dream Makers Competition, which enabled them to make HOMING, a high budget short drama discussing the issues of migration in the UK. HOMING will have its premiere at a major international festival in 2026. Their collaborative work has seen them work with the Oscar-nominated executive producer J.A. Bayona and BAFTA-nominated actor Amit Shah.

Hansel is part of the 2025 BFI Network @ London Film Festival cohort as well as BFI Beyond Shorts scheme, where he is being mentored by Charlotte Regan (SCRAPPER). He has made five well-received short films, which have screened at prestigious industry festivals including Cannes (Straight 8), Aesthetica, and Encounters. He is also recipient of the 2023 Emerging Voices Award.

Lizzie comes from an architectural background and is currently finishing her debut documentary RUSH. Her short film RIPE was a finalist for the 2025 IMDb Script to Screen Awards.

Hansel and Lizzie are passionate about collaborative, genre-blending storytelling that explores interesting questions about contemporary life in the UK.
